February 2012
An Evening with Theresa May
The Prince’s Trust Women’s Leadership Group
was delighted to have the opportunity to attend a special talk from
Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, Theresa May
MP on 1st February 2012.
The gathering gave over 50 members and guests the chance to hear
about Theresa's extraordinary career and current role in
Parliament, with the of opportunity to ask questions. There
was plenty of time for guests to network beforehand, with drinks
and canapés served.
Having worked in the City before becoming an MP, Theresa has
experience of life outside Westminster. She has been involved in
politics at all levels for many years, starting out stuffing
envelopes at her local Conservative Association before going on to
be a councillor in the London Borough of Merton from 1986 to 1994.
Theresa was elected Member of Parliament for Maidenhead in May 1997
and has held several positions within Parliament since then. Most
recently, after the general election in May 2010 she was appointed
Home Secretary and Minister for Women & Equalities.
This event formed part of a series of talks for The Trust's
Women's Leadership Group; a committee of leading, influential women
committed to raising funds to help young people get their lives
back on track.
