Young people go on woodland adventure
Bristol Centre young people spent a night in
the woods on an environmental course.
The Go Wild! Course involved a group of young people going to
Wales to learn about a combination of environmental and
sustainability knowledge and bush craft skills.
They learnt about renewable energy sources; permaculture
gardening and forest gardening; compost toilets and reed bed
systems. That night they built shelters in the woods and slept
outdoors; making a fire using only a spark as their fuel. This was
followed by a big cook-out and singsong. The next day the group
learnt about organic goat farming and plant identification, and
took the goats out trekking the
surrounding countryside.
Tom, a participant on the course said:
I worked with lots of fun people and learnt how
to build a tent using only trees and branches - it was great
fun!
