Marathon success for Igloo Books team
Four men from Igloo Books in Northamptonshire
have completed their mammoth '7 in 7' charity challenge, raising
almost £50,000 for The Prince's Trust.
John Styring (MD), Mark Burge (Head of UK sales), Jonny
Illingworth (US Sales Manager), and Dean Cornish (International
Sales Manager) completed the Igloo Books '7 in 7' challenge
last week, running an astonishing seven marathons
in seven days, in seven different countries.
The men ran full 26.2 official marathon courses in Paris,
Luxembourg, Cologne, Brussels, Amsterdam, Cardiff in consecutive
days before finishing with the prestigious London Marathon on April
22nd.
All four men finished their seventh and final consecutive
marathon in London in under five hours, an amazing feat
considering the travelling, and physical exertions of the
previous six days’ marathons.
Managing Director, John Styring finished in just four hours
11mins, a great time made even more remarkable by the fact that
his six previous day’s marathons were all also under four
hours 30mins. One of the runners, Dean Cornish, told us:
It was a tough week, but we are delighted to
have finished the challenge in one piece, and especially happy to
have raised such a great amount for The Prince's Trust.
As well as the four ‘7 in 7’ marathon runners, Igloo Books
was also represented at the London Marathon by six other
employees who were running their first ever marathon. All six
finished their personal challenge in good time, and were supported
along the way by a coachload of employees who came down to enjoy
the day in the Capital. Various other employees have swam a
marathon over recent months to also add to the fundraising
totals.
The team are delighted with the support they have received from
colleagues, clients, friends, and family who have helped swell the
donations for The Prince’s Trust to £49,200.
As well as kind donations, money has also been raised by a
Charity ball, and various fund raising initiatives held by Igloo
employees. The team were also grateful to the financial support of
Santander, and Igloo Books who contributed to the expense of
running the seven marathons in order to ensure that all monies
raised will go to The Prince’s Trust.
